22: recharge [CREATE]
What did you do to recharge your batteries in 2012?
I went on my honeymoon!
I think the only way to recharge your batteries, as a parent, is to go on vacation alone. I love my daughter and bonus children so much and would do anything for them, but every once in a while a vacation without kids is necessary.
This year we really lucked out and we were able to take a honeymoon right after the wedding. We originally wanted to go to St Lucia on an all inclusive vacation, but we booked through expedia and apparantly the resort is not all inclusive if you book through a third party such as expedia.
After much consideration and a few frustrating conversations we agreed to drive up north to Lake Tahoe. We wanted to go somewhere that we can enjoy scenery, have some adventures but also relax. It ended up being just what we wanted. We stayed at Harrah's, so we relaxed by gambling and going to the spa for a massage. We had adventures by going on a paddle boat tour and a helicopter tour of Emerald Bay. And of course the scenery... Well you can't get away from the scenery when you're in Lake Tahoe. It was so beautiful.
I'm hoping that we are able to recharge our batteries in 2013, just the two of us. Even if it's just for a weekend.
