Running Recap- 8/25/12
This morning was an easy 3 miler. For some reason my legs felt really tight for the first 2 miles yet again. It may be something I just have to deal with... Or maybe I should really start to get my weekly runs in.
Total distance- 3.09
Total time- 43:23
Mile 1- 14:22
Mile 2- 14:05
Mile 3- 13:59
Mile .09- 0:43
Next weekend is the Disney Half Marathon and I am so excited! I have my knee high socks ready to go (haven't worn them all summer due to the heat, but I'm willing to bust them out for this run). I cannot wait!
And with that I am off to have my hair trial, make-up trial and bridal shower. Hoping to be able to take some pictures and post them later.
I decided yesterday (the 7 week mark) that I am ready to put the stress of planning a wedding behind me. I want to enjoy the rest of this time being engaged to my best friend without fighting over stupid things like the groomsmens clothing. Enough of stressing about who's coming and who's bringing a guest. It's going to be an amazing day no matter what happens. At the end of it all I'm going to be married to my best friend and that's what I want out of all of this, a marriage, not a wedding. Well, that and cake...
I'm not the type of person who likes the attention focused directly on themselves. I wouldn't say that I dislike my birthday or Christmas, but I would much rather have the attention focused elsewhere. Today is going to be slightly difficult being that it's a Bridal Shower and I'm the Bride-to-Be. But I'm going to go there, enjoy a glass of champagne, relax and enjoy it because it's some of my closest friends, family and soon to be family. They're not there to judge me, they're there to celebrate with me.
I think about things way to much...
30 Day Shred Challenge- Day 16
I did complete day 16 yesterday, but I didn't blog about it. Part of it was forgetting to do so and the other part was that Patrick and I went on a much needed date.
Yesterday was the first day of level 2 using 5 pound weights. I didn't feel much of a difference until the military press. It felt good though.
I always feel like I get to a point in the video where I'm ready to quit, just be done. Then I realize I'm already more than half way and I can't quit because I'm almost done. That's the beauty of a 30 minute workout. It holds my attention and yet still makes me want to die.
The changes to my body are starting to become noticeable. Patrick has complimented me on a few occasions and I find myself talking less negatively about myself. It may be vain, but I find myself looking in the mirror in the morning. I no longer point out the things I dislike, but instead look at the parts that are changing and that I love about myself.
This video may be doing more for me than just toning my body.

30 Day Shred Challenge- Day 15
Here it is ladies and gentlemen... I have officially passed the half way point in the challenge. To be honest it's been a lot easier to stick with this than I thought it would be and dare I say I am actually proud of myself for making it this far. It is beginning to feel more like something that I like to do instead of something that I'm making myself do.
At this point I'm beginning to think about what's going to happen after I complete this challenge. What will I do without my daily workouts? Sleep maybe... Take a rest day or two... More than likely I will find another DVD to try, another challenge to partake in.
My fear at this point is that I've already had my wedding dress altered. I am picking it up in a week and a little nervous that it might not fit either way. It may be too small (it was a little difficult to take off with all of the pins in it). Then again I've literally been working my ass off and it may be too big. Or I could once again be stressing about absolutely nothing at it could fit just right... I just had my own little Goldilocks moment right there...
I'm thinking that at this point I'm stressed enough about too many things. Work, the wedding, parenting a four year old, working out, eating right, losing weight, etc. When this challenge is over I plan to continue running and walking (there's always another race to be training for and of course the ultimate race to start thinking about, The Goofy Challenge), however I think I'm going to cut down the workout videos to 2-3 days a week.
I truly believe that cutting back will give me the freedom to concentrate on other things while still spending a few days a week working on me. I am hoping that I will be able to keep the muscles I've gained by doing this video as well as working some others by doing a different video.
Who knows. I'm no expert. I can only assume that this would be the next best step. Then again, I still have another 15 days to go!

Weigh In #2
Weight:
Today's weight: 165.8
This weeks +/-: +0.4
Total weight +/-: -1.0
I burned a lot of calories this week with my 11 mile run. I also got in a lot of miles from walking and I'm still doing 30 Day Shred.
I kind of mentally freaked out yesterday when I peeked at the scale in the morning. It showed I was back up to where I started and I was sure I was going to have a bigger gain this morning.
I really need to relax when it comes to the scale. I know that it is just a number and that my body is changing in other more important ways. I'm also possibly gaining muscle. I need to give myself a couple weeks to let my body adjust to the increase in workouts and in eating the calories that I burn.
It will all work itself out. Until then I need to stay off the scale until next weigh in!

30 Day Shred Challenge- Day 13
Tonight's workout was pretty uneventful. I pushed myself a little more than last night and ended up burning a little more calories. Go figure.
I'm back to having a love hate relationship with Jillian. For some reason I didn't feel like dying during yesterday's workout. That changed tonight. Yes, I realize she has no control over whether or not I do the video and how hard I push myself, but I have to focus my hatred somewhere or I would have quit a long time ago.
Then I wake up in the morning and as I'm getting dressed I find myself admiring my body instead of pinpointing the parts I dislike. That's when I go back to loving her.
So I hate her 30 minutes of the day. I'd say that's a pretty successful relationship.

August Goals- Update
So, I've missed the half way point, but decided to still post an update as to where I am with my goals for the month. This is mostly for me because, to be honest, I couldn't even remember what my goals were for the month...
1. Work on the steps from "Feel Good Naked" by Laure Redmond. The goals I plan to start incorporating into my daily life are:
Step One- Don't deprive yourself. Treat yourself once a week.
Step Two- Drink water, drink water, drink water.
Step Three- Watch ten minutes of exercise a day change your face and your life.
Step Four- Schedule fitness appointments in writing each week.
Step Five- Don't stop eating. Stop eating in front of the TV.
Step Seven- Breathe consciously for five minutes a day.
Step Eight- Take thirty minutes of private time each day.
Fail. And will probably continue to be a fail. I've been getting better about drinking more water daily but still need work on getting in enough water on the weekends. I guess I have been getting more exercise in although it's not in writing. I've been attempting to eat dinner at the kitchen table but I admit to snacking in front of the TV. Otherwise I have not really consciously kept up with these.
2. Run/Walk 100 miles. Make a plan to get all of the miles in.
This is a giant success! I am already at 84.7 miles for the month and still have 10 days left to go. I see myself getting a lot more miles in between now and then.
3. Track in writing every day. Do not become obsessed with what I'm eating, concentrate on portions not calories or points.
Fail. I am not writing down what I'm eating, however I am tracking on My Fitness Pal again and having success this time around. I do not feel like I am becoming obsessed with calories like I was before. More aware of them this time. Less afraid.
4. Keep up with laundry and keeping the apartment clean. Make a weekly plan. Do not get overwhelmed.
I have to give a big apology to Patrick for this one. This is also a fail. I have such high hopes and such big goals and then I get tired or bored or distracted or lazy and the apartment gets messy then gets overwhelmingly messy. I wish I had that gene that helped me to want to keep everything neat and organized.
5. Stop stressing about the wedding. Realize that everything is going to work out the way it's supposed to. EGBOK.. Everything is Going to Be OK. There is no point in stressing about one day. At the end of it all I'm going to be married to my best friend.
Another big apology to Patrick... I have let the stress take over quite a few times. Mostly because people keep inviting other people and no one cares to say anything. They just think it's okay and they don't want to upset anyone. Believe me, I of all people do not want to upset anyone, but at the same time we are reaching the end of our budget and that's a scary place for two broke people.
The biggest mistake I've made this month regarding the wedding was getting upset with Patrick. I've been with him for over three years and I know that he is a procrastinator. I also know that when he says he's going to do something that he will get around to doing it, it just won't be on my schedule. I've done a huge part of the wedding planning and have asked him to do very little. When those things didn't get done I had a bridezilla moment. Not my best moment. I think from here on out if I want something done I'm going to either do it myself or learn to have patience.
