A Response to the Swarley Post

Rachel's version about her dog Charlie:

Charlie - Better Known as DumbAss
DumbAss is just one of his MANY nicknames.

His nicknames include, but are not limited to: Dumber, Moron, Idiot and FartMonster

He is best known as Charlie.

He always responds to all the above mentioned names.

He weighs 93 pounds.

He doesn't give a crap what he weighs

We've had him for two years.

During tonight's workout ... Oh wait I didn't workout I laid on the coach and ate ice cream.

In the mornings he is so lazy, after sleeping for 9 hours he goes and lays on the couch to sleep for another hour.

He could care less about me after I feed him.

I feed him when I feel like it

He gets confused - well in general he is confused.

If I press snooze on my alarm he just goes back to sleep snoring.

If I turn my alarm off, sit up and then lay back down he just goes back to sleep snoring.

His favorite spot in the house is on the couch on top of anyone laying there.

He hates the shower.... dry or wet.

He hates the sound of sirens.
He can often be found napping - ANYWHERE.

He likes to sit near the back door. He puts his face against the glass - and I like to think he's pretending he's inside.

If you sit down on the couch to read a magazine, he sits on top of them.

If I get up to go pee, he always follows me into the bathroom.
He loves to have his belly rubbed.

His picture is NOT background on my work computer - Emma is!!!

He is crazy.

Every time I pick his poop up in the backyard he goes and takes a fresh dump for me!

When I get home from work he is excited to see me - or just to be let inside from the heat.

I cant pick him up and carry him like a baby - he is to big for that.

All of my black clothes have hair on them.

All of my white clothes have hair on them.

I own a lint brush, and I know how to use it.

His tail knocks down my pictures.

He's weird.

~THE END~

Swarley- Better Known as Marley

(Yes, that is a How I Met Your Mother reference)

Swarley is just one of her MANY nicknames.

Her nicknames include, but are not limited to: Mar Mar Ba Dang Dang, Hairball City Kitty, Mars Bar, Marls Barkley, Stinky, Mar Mar Ba Jangles and Kitty Face.

She is best known as Marley.

She rarely responds to any of the above mentioned names.

She weighs 13 pounds.

She weighs herself daily, usually right after I weigh myself.

I don't think she realizes.

We've had her for a year.

During tonights workout she spent 20 minutes chasing a fly.

Neither of us know where it is.

In the mornings she will meow for 30 minutes while I get ready for work.

When I get the spoon out of the drawer to feed her she pulls it towards herself and rubs her face on it and bites it.

She could care less about me after I feed her.

I've tried feeding her first and then getting ready for work.

She gets confused after she eats because I'm still there and will meow trying to trick me into feeding her again.

If I press snooze on my alarm she will jump on the bed.

If I turn my alarm off, sit up and then lay back down she will sit on my face.

Her favorite spot in the house is on the arm of the couch where the air conditioner blows.

She also enjoys laying in the shower, but only if it's dry.

She hates the sound of plastic bags.

She can often be found napping on top of my shoes in my closet.

She likes to sit near the silk flowers on the coffee table. She puts her face in it and I like to think she's pretending she's in the wild.

She just found the fly again and is tracking it down.

She thinks when I take my vitamins at night that I'm going to give her treats.

I always give in.

If you sit down to pay bills she will sit right on top of them.

She can usually be found right beside me while I'm working out.

Usually on her back expecting me to pet her... Or teasing me that she's a cat and she doesn't have to work out.

Her picture is the background on my work computer. When I get overwhelmed or stressed at work I minimize the screen and see her.

She calms me down.

When I get home from work she jumps up on my leg.

I pick her up and carry her on my hip like a baby.

She lets me hold her like this until I sit down and then she's gone.

All of my black clothes have white hair on them.

All of my white clothes have black hair on them.

I own a lint brush, but I'm too lazy to use it.

Her tail is as long or longer than her body.

She's weird.

She fits right in.

We really couldn't have asked for a better cat.

Mar Mar Ba Dang Dang

Random pictures of Marley.

Mar Mar Ba Dang Dang is just one of her many random nicknames she has received over the past year that we've had her.

She loves having her belly rubbed.

Close up shot.

Her new favorite thing. A paper bag from Golden Spoon.

Kneading the laundry.

Hiding in between the couches.

Asleep among Isabel's toys. What a bed hog.

#52: Adopt a pet from a shelter. Complete!

Meet Marley.

As soon as we decided to move in together I started asking Patrick if we could get a cat. I had wanted one ever since I was little and had the devil cat straight from hell. I always imagined having a cat that enjoyed to cuddle, not one that would bite your ankles in the middle of the night on your way to the bathroom.

When he and I moved in together last July I asked him his opinion about getting a cat. He was open to it, even though he would have rather had a dog. Due to our apartment rules though, we couldn't get a dog but a cat was okay.

We didn't want to rush into anything though. So we talked. Then we talked some more. Then we talked to the kids to get their opinion. We did a lot of talking.

And then one day during the summer we went to the beach. Patrick's daughter would not stop asking if we could get a cat. It got to the point where I thought we would never get a cat because Patrick was becoming quite irritated with her.

But on our way home he turned left instead of going straight and we stopped at the animal shelter. I didn't expect to find "our" cat the first trip, but there she was. She was friendly and cuddly and purred when we held her. My only fear was that she was in a cage with another cat and they thought they might need to be adopted together and we were not looking to get two cats. Thankfully, everything worked out for us. She had already been spayed and had received all her immunizations that she needed. We paid and took her home that day. We had been living together a month, so we ended up jumping into it anyway.

I think my favorite thing about Marley is her obsession with the ice maker. Anytime someone gets ice from the refrigerator she comes running. Any ice that falls is immediately batted around the kitchen until she's bored with it or until it's a melted pile of water.

She also insists on laying on top of whatever you are working on in order to get all the attention.

Her favorite place to sleep is either at the end of our bed near our feet (to pounce on in the middle of the night when we move) or in between Patrick and me on our pillows.

We really lucked out with Marley. She was a year and a half when we got her, so she was already litter box trained. She's friendly, cuddly and just all around amazing. She fits right in with us with her quirks and we love her!
